Drive to Materuni Village
Depart from Moshi (approx. 45 mins) or Arusha (approx. 2.5 hours). Drive uphill along winding dirt roads to the lush hillside village of Materuni, perched at 1,300 meters above sea level.
Morning Hike (approx. 10:00)
Waterfall Hike & Forest Walk
Meet your local Chagga guide. Set off on a scenic 40-to-50-minute hike (~5 km round-trip) through terraced coffee and banana farms. Reach the spectacular Materuni Waterfall cascading 150 meters. Swimming may be permitted depending on water conditions, weather, safety assessments, seasonal conditions and current park guidance.
Midday (approx. 12:30)
Traditional Chagga Feast
Return to the village for a hot, freshly prepared Chagga buffet lunch featuring local organic banana stews, beans, yams, and seasonal vegetables.
Afternoon (approx. 13:30)
Interactive Coffee Masterclass
Participate in the entire coffee-making process. Help peel, mortar-grind, and open-fire roast organic Arabica beans while your Chagga hosts sing traditional farming melodies. Taste the incredibly fresh coffee you helped create.
Late Afternoon (approx. 15:30)
Return Journey
Board your private vehicle for a comfortable drive back to your Moshi or Arusha hotel, arriving by early evening.

How physically challenging is the waterfall hike?
The hike is moderate and highly accessible to anyone with basic fitness. It features some inclines and can get muddy or slippery when it rains, so hiking shoes with good grip are highly recommended.
Can I swim at the base of the waterfall?
Swimming may be permitted depending on water conditions, weather, safety assessments, seasonal conditions and current park guidance. When permitted, the pool is refreshing, though the water is fed by Kilimanjaro glaciers and is very cold!
